The Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship program covers various topics, including leadership and management, child development and theory, pedagogy, health and well-being, health and safety, equality, diversity, inclusion and SEN, safeguarding, and partnership working. The course also helps develop reflective practices, enabling practitioners to reflect and build on their practice through ongoing professional enquiries and action research. - Support from your employer to undertake the programme
- Funding agreed with apprenticeship account holder
- GCSE’s in English and Maths at Grade C (4) or above or able to achieve Level 2 English and Maths whilst on programme
- Level 3 Early Years Educator or Equivalent Qualifications / Extensive Experience
- Successful Interview
- Must have held a residency in the UK for the last three years
- Candidates must be working and interacting on a daily basis with children in the birth to 5 age range in accordance with the EYFS, the setting must be delivering the EYFS learning and development requirements

The Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship Level 5 is designed to help early years practitioners develop the skills and knowledge they need to become effective leaders within their setting.
The course covers a range of topics, including leadership and management, child development and theory, pedagogy, health and wellbeing, health and safety, equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding.
Throughout the course, apprentices will learn how to reflect on and improve their practice through ongoing professional enquiries and action research.
They will also develop their ability to lead and manage other practitioners and take responsibility for an aspect or environment of the provision.
The apprenticeship is suitable for those who aspire to leadership roles within early years settings, including room leaders, deputy managers, assistant managers, senior practitioners, early years coordinators, play leaders, key workers, and nursery officers.

Assessment

The Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship Level 5 is assessed through a combination of on-the-job observation, professional discussion, and the completion of a portfolio of evidence.

Apprentices will also need to pass an end-point assessment, which includes a project and a professional discussion, to complete the apprenticeship.

Qualification

Upon completion of the Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship Level 5, apprentices will receive a nationally recognised qualification that is equivalent to a foundation degree.

You would need Level 2 Maths and English qualifications or equivalent as entry requirements for this course.

You will be awarded the Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner Apprenticeship, and also an additional Level 5 Diploma in Early Years Senior Practitioner from NCFE.

The assessment process consists of:

This apprenticeship is 100% funded by the government, so neither the employer nor the learner has to pay.

After completing the Level 5 apprenticeship, you have the option to enrol in a degree top-up programme, where you will be closely supported for 12 months, culminating in the awarding of a degree and the qualifications required to progress to EYITT (Early Years Initial Teacher Training). Pursuing EYITT is a remarkable next step as it imparts the esteemed EYTS (Early Years Teacher Status) upon learners. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that there is a 100% pass rate for the EYITT programme, making it a highly effective pathway for career advancement in the early years sector.
